Martin Lole
Award-winning British engineer and designer

Martin Lole is a leading, award-winning British engineer and designer best known for challenging the industry's status quo. With a passion for clever design and uncompromising build quality, Martin has launched several successful agricultural and amenity brands.

In his early 30’s Martin founded Spearhead and pioneered rotary mower design in the UK. By setting new standards in mowing, the brand was acquired by the Alamo Group and continues to operate to this day.

Did you know?
Martin Lole was the first to design and introduce the folding rotary mower into the UK - setting a new industry standard that's still widely used today

With a focus on innovation and a persistent desire to enhance farming practices, Martin went on to develop the Mzuri system on his farm in Worcestershire — an inventive direct drilling solution that has grown into the globally recognised brand, Mzuri World.

Mzuri World now operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing and research facility in Poland, serving the worldwide market, continuing the legacy.

In 2017, Martin’s career came full circle as he returned to his passion: vegetation management. With the launch of Razorback, he once again emphasised his trademark focus on clever design and premium build quality. Today, Razorback manufactures and imports a range of advanced equipment for agricultural and amenity professionals. Through a collaboration with Denmark’s GreenTec - an organisation with whom Martin shares a long-standing relationship - Razorback has firmly established itself as a leading supplier of innovative reach and rotary mowers serving the British market.

Timeline
A History of Innovation

1989

Martin launches Spearhead with the UK’s first folding rotary mower.

1994-2004

Martin continues to pioneer rotary mower design in the UK and builds a substantial domestic market. European exports take off with the help of partnerships, including GreenTec of Denmark.

Spearhead also launched into the amenity market with a range of finishing mowers.

2005

Spearhead is acquired by US firm Alamo Group to expand its range of brands in the industry. Martin purchases Springfield Farm, and begins to farm the 450-acre Evesham lias clay farm conventionally. It’s during this time that Martin began to appreciate the challenges posed by conventional establishment, and started the journey towards a better system.

2011

Martin developed the Mzuri system which addressed key challenges associated with conventional crop establishment and went on to launch the Mzuri Pro-Til direct drill.

2013 - 2017

The Mzuri brand continues to grow and exports begin to Europe. As export demand grows, collaboration with a Polish firm to open a European manufacturing facility to serve the European market begins in 2017.

Following continued feedback from customers wanting a return of Martin’s vegetation equipment, Razorback was launched, starting with the Auto-Level reach mower.

The Razorback range expands with the RT Series rotary mower, and the brand continues going from strength to strength.

Martin was awarded the Blue Ribbon Award for Outstanding Contribution to Agricultural Machinery.
